Beauty and Simple Steps For Style Reinvention

Every once in a while, everybody starts longing for a little bit of change. Life gets a little too routine, and maybe you get tired of looking and acting the same way all the time. If you know this feeling, you're certainly not alone. In fact, personal stylists talk about this as a well-known stage that everyone goes through from time to time. They prefer to think of it not as a fundamental change of who you are, but as a "reinvention." And it's easier than you may think. Here's what you do.

1. Set your sights. Before you can start your personal style reinvention, you have to know what you're going for. If you wing it and don't think it out in advance, you'll end up with a patchwork style that you're not fully comfortable with. So, first of all, use your imagination. Picture in your mind what you want to look like, and even take notes if it helps. Secondly, go through websites and magazines for inspiration.

Don't be afraid to incorporate others' ideas into your style. It's impossible to be completely original. Yes, the little things are essential, but style is all about the big picture. It's about what you wear over weeks and months, not just what you wear on a daily basis.

2. Out with the old. No doubt you have some items in your wardrobe that you don't like wearing anymore, yet you keep them in your clothing rotation because they're there and you're accustomed to them. Now is the time to go through your wardrobe and get rid of these things.

Look at all of your articles of clothing and think about how it makes you feel to wear them. If wearing them still seems a little fun and exciting, hold on to them. But those items that you're no longer comfortable with? Bag them up and give them to charity.

3. Spend a little. It's not easy to do a reinvention when economic times are tough, so make sure you wait until you have a little extra cash set aside to invest in your new look. It doesn't have to be a huge amount-just enough for a couple of outfits to start, and maybe an accessory or two. All you're going to do for now is create your foundation. You're going to throw 3 or 4 new items into your wardrobe rotation, and this is just going to be the start of an evolutionary process.

4. Body, skin, and hair. If you don't have a regular exercise regime, now's the time to commit yourself to getting and staying fit. Trust me, it will make your style reinvention so much easier if you feel good about what's happening underneath.

Now is also a great time to look at what you have in the bathroom. Are these really the products that you want to use? Maybe you should try different shampoos and conditions, different perfumes and make-up, and even a whole new grooming schedule.

And last but not least, re-do your hair. You're probably familiar with the powerful effects haircuts can have on your attitude. Take advantage of this little jolt to give you momentum in your style reinvention.
